Nursery & Kids Trends -Greenery Pantones Colour of the Year
Greenery was hailed as this years Pantone Colour of the year. Its evident from clothing to home. Its a look that is paired with blush pink in pattern and print and looks great. Its not always a colour considered for childrens room. And admittedly it has taken it light years to come full circle in interiors. But its huge and here to stay for a few seasons. Whats so apparent for green is its heritage. Its influence is evident from Artdeco, Victorian, Edwardian through to the seventies but it has been out of vogue for those who are non traditionalists.
It can be an incredibly strong colour and a game changer in kids rooms. The variance of shade is wide in this trend taking on huge differences in its appeal. I'm a huge fan of Sian Zieng's Magnetic Dinosaur toile Wallpaper (above). Sians incredible talented and hand draws all of the wallpapers. This wallpaper in particular is so enchanting due to the images, soft colouring and toile repeat. Sians developing a bear in a rowing boat...(arrrhhh so cute!) go and check her out.
There is a huge variance in green 'grown up' wallpaper. In particular the palms and voile patterns. Be bold. Have the confidence to choose a pattern you love (no theme) and build a mood around the pattern and shades within the print. Get planning and start mood boarding its really eye opening what your unaware of until you start collating your ideas in one space. Pinterest of course is great for this. In fact to create unique interiors really consider what you would like for your room ...with the introduction of a cot and toys the space becomes quite a considered sophisticated back drop for your little person. Embrace adult trends and don't stop at colour combining. If you have a love for midcentury modern or deco introduce it. Incorporate your go to style in your nursery/kids room. Are you really into vintage? A midcentury chest of drawers with a changing mat onto is the perfect changing station and why not an Ercol rocking chair instead of a cream oropedic rocker?
Have confidence in your personal style and introduce it to your children. I guarantee the room will be a show stopper. Unique and individual to your family.
