Through the Keyhole… September’s Design Consultations

One of our favourite things about design consultations?
No two are ever the same, and we get to peek behind all kinds of doors.

Here’s a little look at the homes (and the people) we had the pleasure of helping this past month:

Tufnell Park
A single gal deep in her first reno. Hyper-organised (spreadsheet queen!) but stuck in a fog of Pinterest tabs and pressure.
We sense-checked her tile choices, colour palette, lighting plans, and offered practical tweaks, supplier shortcuts, and order-of-works tips to save hours of scrolling.
She left the loveliest review afterwards. Gold star client.

St John’s Wood
A couple downsizing from a grand townhouse in Little Venice to a more modest three-bed flat. The brief? Find the balance between his minimalism and her colour + comfort. We discussed whether to knock through walls, reconfigure kitchens, invest in flooring or go soft with furnishings first. It was a lesson in compromise, personality, and smart sequencing.

Alexandra Palace
Three days off giving birth to baby no. 2, this couple had just moved house, mid-reno, mid-chaos.
We reviewed architect plans, discussed finishes, and talked about something that often gets missed: how the space will actually feel when you’re home full-time with toddlers. Light, layout, and mental health aren’t design extras, they’re essentials!

Kentish Town
A full back-to-brick renovation, and two super-switched-on homeowners investing in peace of mind.
Everything was on track, until we got to lighting. Too many spotlights = too many crimes. We course-corrected before it was too late.
