The Whiteley’s Project shortlisted for TWO SBID International Design Awards
We’re incredibly proud to share that The Whiteley has been shortlisted as a finalist in two categories at the SBID International Design Awards 2026:
Residential Apartment Over £1M
Ultra-Luxury Residential Property
This was a substantial full service project with a considerable amount of detailed design and bespoke specification, made possible by clients who placed an enormous amount of faith in us and in the design process while managing much of the project from overseas. That level of trust is never something we take lightly.
They trusted us to understand how they wanted their home to feel, to make significant decisions on their behalf and to keep pushing the design until every element felt considered and connected. Their confidence gave us the freedom to be ambitious, explore unusual ideas and develop a home that feels both elevated and genuinely liveable.
The design combines strong architectural detail, bespoke craftsmanship and practical family living. From the reeded plaster columns and double-sided fireplace to the specialist joinery, bronze work, lighting and soft furnishings, every element was designed to sit comfortably alongside the next. The intention was never simply to fill a luxury apartment with beautiful pieces. It was to create a distinctive, warm and personal home that was not too precious.
Projects of this scale are never the work of one person. They rely on an extraordinary number of skilled hands, patient conversations and people who are invested and care about the final result.
Thank you also to the Born & Bred Studio team and to the brilliant craftspeople, makers, suppliers and contractors who helped bring the project to life. In particular, Locker & Riley for the exceptional fibrous plasterwork, Novocastrian for the beautiful bronze pieces, our talented joinery team at Greenes and specialist finishing teams, and of course Anna Stathaki for capturing the completed apartment so beautifully.
There were challenges, delays, changes and a great deal of problem-solving along the way, as there always are with a project of this complexity in a listed building. Seeing the finished home recognised by an international judging panel for its functionality, innovation, creativity and technical execution makes the nomination all the more meaningful.
